Manor House

The Manor House was built in 1780 as the principal residence of the Duke of Argyll's Oban estate. Of late Georgian architecture, great consideration has been taken to preserve the elegance, charm and atmosphere of its past. Spectacular views stretch out across Oban Bay, the adjacent islands, the mountains of Morvern and the Isle of Mull.

Owner's Description:

Patrick Freytag leads the Manor House's team of four chefs in producing
imaginative dishes featuring fresh local fish, game and produce. The 5
course, table d'h“te Dinner menu is designed each day to capitalize on the
bounty of the season.

Getting to The Manor House


The Manor House is located on the South shore of Oban Harbour. Once in Oban,
follow signs to the ferries. Continue along Gallanach Road west approx ¼
mile to the Manor House


Getting to Oban


By Plane: Glasgow International Airport runs daily flight schedules
from London, Europe and around the world. Contact your airline for flight information
or call Glasgow Airport on +44(0)141 887 1111. Alternatively, fly to Edinburgh
Airport, from where it is only a three-hour drive to Oban. For another option,
charter an aeroplane to Oban Airport


By Car: From Glasgow take the A82 around the west side of Loch Lomond
through Crianlarich to Tyndrum, then follow the A85 along the north side of
Loch Awe to Oban. The journey takes two hours. From Edinburgh, drive through
Stirling and up to Oban. For detailed driving directions from anywhere in the
UK, visit MapQuest (For users of MapQuest, the postcode of the Manor House Hotel
in Oban is PA34 4LS). Limosine service can be arranged through the hotel.


By Train: ScotRail run trains twice daily from Glasgow Queen Street
Station to Oban on the beautiful west-coast line. Call 08457 484950 for details
of all ScotRail services or visit ScotRail's website Alternatively, catch the
train to Edinburgh then change to Stirling from where it is a two-hour drive
to Oban


By Boat: Caledonian MacBrayne Ferries run a regular car and passenger
ferry from Oban to The Isle of Mull. For timetable information and to book ferry
tickets, visit CalMac's website or call their Oban booking office on 0990 650000.
It is advisable to book ferry tickets in advance


By Coach: CityLink run coaches run daily from Edinburgh via Glasgow.
